Little Black Dress aka LBD

Hello Closet Shoppers,
Hope your work week has been good to you! I'm just happy it's Friday.  Just wanted to share with you my fave "LBD" I've had it for about 7 years now and I just love it. A LBD is essential for every woman to have in their closet.  You just always need one for that quick outfit when you have nothing to wear and you can always accessorize it up to give it a different look. By throwing a blazer on or even a jean jacket to tone it down depending on where your going.  And having more that one LBD is necessary :).  Since this dress has going aroudn the chest and sholders i really didn't need to put on a necklace since it would probably take away form the overal design of the dress.  I put on a red lip since red always looks great with black. Hope you enjoy.
Do you love LBD's? Do you own more than one LBD ?

African Print Jumper/Halo Crown

Hello Closet Shoppers,
Happy Friday! Hope your having a blessed day and I'm sure your ready for the weekend.  Last Friday I had the pleasure being a hair model again for my hair dresser at the "Hair, Health, and Heritage" Event at the National Museum of African Art here in D.C.  My hairstylist (Audrey Afari) Salon which is Noire Salon in Silver Spring, Md. Owned by Camille Reed provided the hair models which was about six of us.  All different hair types with different styles, just so people can see the diversity in having natural  hair.  This was a very informative event with a panel of four which were: Diana N'DiayePh.D. (Curator of Will to Adorn), Monte Harris, M.D. (Plastic Surgeon), Karen E, Milbourne ,Ph.D. (Curator at the National Museum of African Art) and, Gina Paige (founder if Africanancestry.com.  The topic of conversation was about hair, health, and beauty in relations to heritage. Here are a few pics I took of some of the models hair as well as the models.  Since this was held at the National Museum of African Art we were told to wear something with an African print.  So of course I shopped in my closet to see what my options were and spotted my vintage African print jumper that was perfect for the event.  my hair was done in one braid going around my head like a halo and in a bun to the side.  I've had a picture of this style for quite some time and been meaning to try it so this was the perfect opportunity too. Enjoy!

P.S.
If your in the DMV (DC, Md or VA) area and are looking for natural hair stylist please check out Noire Salon in Silver Spring. Also the had a live stream of the event if you wish to watch it here is the link http://africa.si.edu/healthhair.html

Dressing up Graphic Tees..

Hello Closet Shoppers,
Hope this post reaches you in good spirits and health.  So I come back with another tee shirt post because tees are the thing for the summer so easy to dress up or down.  Last time I was casual with my look this time I was headed to a bday party and wanted to dress up my tee just a bit.  I mixed prints with my tee and of course threw on some  accessories to make it complete.  Like I said in my last post tees are a easy go to piece for any occasion especially in the summer, your accessories will make it the look you want it to be.  I decided to throw on a floral blazer with my tee to dress up my look a little plus you know how I love mixing my prints so I had to throw my polka dot shorts in the mix as well.  If I could wear heels I would but my foot still isn't ready yet but heels will definitely dress this look up even more.
Do you dress your tees up or do you keep it casual?
Hope you like my fit.

Tees and Prints

Hello Closet Shoppers,
The other day I had a graduation cookout to go to for a family friend who graduated from High school.  The weather was nice but it called for rain.  So I opted to wear my vintage printed pants with my new fave tee from Dopeciety.  This tee feels and fits so good, I was drawn to this tee because of the head wrap and Fulani earrings (which I need to find a pair because I love those earrings)  I put this fit together because I knew I would be outside and wanted to be comfy and tees are always an option for me because they go with any and everything and can give you that clean or edgy look you may go for because all you have to do is accessorize. And if they are soft and fit to perfection is always a plus.
Do you have a favorite tee? Do you love tees in the summer?
Enjoy.

Jumper and Florals

Hello Closet Shoppers,
Last weekend I went to a Luau themed party at my girlfriends house because she is going away to Hawaii for work for a couple of years.  So I had to think to myself what do I wear to a Luau? lol and when i was talking on the phone to one of my friends she said "you got something in that closet floral!"  So of course I went shopping in my closet and I totally forgot about this thrifted floral jumper I got that was perfect for the party and i haven't worn it yet so it was just right on time.   Yes here I go again with a jumper lol and yes it has pockets.  I always loved floral I know it is the trend this year but I love color to much not to love floral.  If your are trying to get into color i suggest to start with a floral skirt or top and pair with a solid color item and from there you will get into color more. Do you like the floral trend going on this year?  Or were you already into floral like me?

Jumpers and Pockets

Hello Closet Shoppers,
Sorry I have been lacking on my post this week but it was just a very busy week for me but, I have been taking pictures of my outfits so I can back date you on what I have been wearing.   The weather here in MD is getting better but it still sketchy at times, so i want to be warm but not to warm you know? So what is better than wearing a dress? A jumper it is the perfect easy outfit for all occasions, all you need to do is accessorize.  Memorial Day weekend I went to a day party with some friends and it was breezy here but the sun was still out so it was still nice out so I wanted keep warm so I opted for this jumper which is very light and not to heavy so i wouldn't get to hot in it. I rolled up the legs of it to give it that gaucho look.(you will be amazed of what a little roll or fold of a leg or shirt will do, can give you a totally different look)  I love any outfit in which all you have to do is put it on and accessorize you don't have to worry about a bottom or a top just that jumper, romper or dress and BAM! lol you out the door.  And i love pockets wait no i am obsessed with pockets on any romper dress skirt, or jumper it is just something about having that option there because there are times i just don't feel like carrying a bag.  Do you love jumpers?  Are you in love with pockets like me?  Hope you like my fit.
